It's all about the globes

So, main thing today was that we went to Isaac's house for popiah dinner today. It was rather fun to prepare it yourself and i think peiwen lost to me in the wrapping competition. Hahah. After that it was just grapvine and alittle mahjong.
So, it's time for the golden globes!!!!! Although i havent watched most of the films (not released here yet), i'd still like to comment on who i'd like to see bring home the award.

Now, for the Best Picture race, out of 5 films, I would say Slumdog Millionaire is the strongest contender among all of the other 4. The only movie that would come close is Curious case of Benjamin Button. However i think that this movie would just be like other big movies (Aviator) that wouldnt end up winning best picture. Love Revolutionary Road too. Other films are The Reader and Frost/Nixon.

Best Actress: Well well well, this is a really tough spot to be at because unlike previous obvious winners, this is the year where we all scratch our heads thinking who would the HFPA pick. Would it be most nominated veteran actress Meryl Streep? or last year's big snub paparazzi queen Jolie? or comeback oscar winner Kristin? or poor poor Kate who should be long ago recgonised for her superb acting skills? or maybe they would give it to critics fav and girl next door Anne. I surely wouldnt mind if any of them won.

Best Actor: Oh well, never been really excited about this category because my favourites never win. Hahah. Okay, this year's race would probably go to Sean Penn for his potrayal of a gay activist in Milk but there is also Mickey Rourke who was a favourite years ago and now have made a comeback with a critcally acclaimed role in The Wrestler. Other contenders include Brad Pitt, Leonardo Dicaprio and Frank Langella.

Supporting Actor: HEATH LEDGER!!!!! Please please please let Heath Ledger win. Gosh, his potrayal of The Joker is one of the best performances ive ever seen by an actor. Seriously, i dont really care about the rest (okay maybe a little) i just want Heath to win. Thank you very much. Other nominees are Tom Cruise, Robert Downey Junior, Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Ralph Fiennes. Of course, i think the only person who can outrun heath would be favourite Phillip. If they give the award to someone else, i'd just not watch the show anymore.

The things to take note are that Kate Winslet is nominated for both Leading and Supporting Actresses for Revolutionary Road and The Reader. Although it is clear the she spent alot of time on screen in The Reader, she was put into the supporting category for fear that she might outdraw herself in the lead category.
Revolutionary Road is the first collaboration between Kate and Leonardo since the "little" movie Titanic. It is also the first time Kate's husband Sam Mendes is directing her in a movie.
Another double nominee is Meryl Streep. She is nominated for both her roles in Doubt and Mamma Mia. Will she win both?
In the Musical/Comedy Best Picture Race, Mamma Mia, Vicky Christina Barcelona, Happy go Lucky, Burn After Reading and In Bruges are in. I'd go for Mamma Mia.
Miley Cyrus and Beyonce Knowles are going to sing it out with both of their songs nominated for Best Song. I thought i'd lost you from Bolt & Once in a Lifetime from Cadillac records are also facing competition from 'Gran Torino, Gran Torino', 'Down to Earth, Wall E', 'The Wrestler, The Wrestler'.
There's more to go but im very tired now. 4am liaoz. okay, goodnight!
